MAIL & TELEMARKETING FRAUD - INTRODUCTION

Are you finally getting fed up with telephone calls and mail solicitations asking for money for some worthwhile cause?

I sure am. It seems like I get ten to twenty letters a month and at least several telephone calls a week. It is everything from disabled veterans to injured and abused animals to police widows, children and homeless burros.

It never stops. Why is that? Well, I think I have figured it out. It’s because they get a heck of a lot of money by these solicitations.

Now, I’m not knocking charities. It is great that we have them. They help a lot of people and animals.

I am not saying you should not donate money to these organizations if you support their ideals; but when was the last time you actually saw something that was actually done with your donations.

Do you know how much of your donation actually went to the cause? How much of each dollar that you gave actually went to that disabled vet, the police widow, the children, the injured and abused child and that damn burro?

Chances are you have not got a clue. I sure do not. How much of each dollar was “eaten up” by “administrative costs”? Probably, most of it. How many of these organizations are legitimate? It’s really hard to sort them out.
